Porreton is a local name for a baby bird, a nickname given to Jose’s grandfather because of his small size at birth though as an adult, he was a tireless worker in the vineyard. The wine is an homage to his grandfather in proving that the smallest plot produces the highest quality grapes. Harvested by hand, wild yeast fermentation with daily lees stirring. Macerated 12 days on skins.
Bright cherry-red, delicate garnet rim. Aromas of wild strawberries, cherries and raspberry preserve, notes of dried Mediterranean herbs, black liquorice, crushed stone and subtle spice. On the palate, ripe red fruit with fresh acidity and powdery tannins. Mineral undertones, savoury herbal nuances add complexity and tension, while the finish is long, energetic and elegantly persistent.
