Domaine Richard Rottiers Moulin-a-Vent “Dernier Souffle”

Derived from decomposed granitic soils behind the cemetery of Romanèche, Rottiers’s 2020 Moulin-à-Vent Dernier Souffle bursts with scents of sweet berries, cherries, kirsch, spices and rose petals. Medium to full-bodied, lively and tensile despite the warmth of the vintage, it’s concentrated and precise, concluding with a long, saline finish. One of the region’s most dedicated organic farmers, Richard Rottiers has turned in a fine performance in 2020, the latest in a string of high-quality vintages for this emerging Moulin-à-Vent benchmark. At this address, semi-carbonic maceration is followed by élevage in foudre and barrel, depending on the cuvée. Everything reviewed here comes warmly recommended once again.
