From the heart of Chambertin Grand Cru, Domaine des Chezeaux 2011 delivers classic Burgundian refinement with over a decade of graceful aging. Made in collaboration with Domaine René Leclerc, this wine showcases a traditional, terroir-driven approach—unfiltered, cellar-aged, and bottled with care.
This wine is the same as that sold under the Ponsot label, except for the paper sticker on the bottle. It even has his proprietary glass and comes from the same 100+ year-old vines, as well as being vinified in the same cellar. Oh, and the price—a fraction of that under Ponsot’s own label. Such are the joys of share-cropping. The Ponsot wine received 93-95 points and praise from Allen Meadows in Burghound: “This offers up a completely different aromatic profile with stony and distinctly sauvage aromas of red currant, plum, violets and tea. There is a relatively refined mouth feel to the powerful, intense and mineral-driven big-bodied flavors that possess well-integrated tannins before concluding in an explosively long finish that, like the Chapelle, is distinctly austere and very, very serious.”
