Chateau Jean Faux is located in the village of Sainte Radegonde on south-west facing slopes overlooking its more well-known neighbours in Saint Emilion and Castillon. His consultant winemaker is Stéphane Derenoncourt, who has worked for prestigious Bordeaux estates such as Domaine de Chevalier, Clos Fourtet, Clos de l’Oratoire, Smith Haut Lafitte, and in California for Francis Ford Coppola’s Rubicon Estate Winery. Under the guidance of Stephane Derenoncourt since 2003, the Chateau has gone from strength to strength paying meticulous attention to detail in both vineyard and winery, using a using a more “hands on” approach. The property has been organic since 2011 and as of 2015 is certified biodynamic.
The 2019 Jean Faux Sainte Radegonde Blanc is plump, juicy and super-expressive. Understated in this vintage, Jean Faux offers lovely energy and brightness in a mid-weight style that is hugely appealing. Pretty floral and spice notes liven up the finish. A wine that shows many layers and has a nice long finish. This powerful wine is a good accompaniment to various dishes. Try it with sole or turbot baked with beurre noisette containing lemon, capers and hazelnut. Classic lobster with butter sauce and lemon or with a well-filled goat cheese salad with honey and walnuts.
